I have a genome annotation file for in gff file format for a certain lizard species, how would I go about analyzing a specific gene (sulf1) to see if it is functional, I wanted to specifically look at the promoter region. I want to specifically locate the transcription factor binding site.

The sulf1 gene is annotated within the gff file: Scaffold_9__2_contigs__length_103119859 maker gene 64733381 64791637 . + . ID=ANN20526;Note=Similar to SULF1: Extracellular sulfatase Sulf-1 (Coturnix coturnix OX%3D9091);

    $\begingroup$ Please edit your question and add an example of your file and then explain what you want to do with it. Is the promoter annotated in the gff file? How? Can you show us the gff lines for that gene? $\endgroup$

  • $\begingroup$ "analyze", "functional", that are all generic and broad terms. Ask a specific technical question or this question might get closed for being too broad/unspecific. $\endgroup$
